Paige Colburn and Hayden Ward are Top Spellers!
Paige Colburn won the HMS Spelling Bee held on January 13th.  After going back and forth with Hayden Ward, HMS alternate, she won the contest with the correct spelling of the word "nocturnal".  Both of these students represent some of the best we have at Haleyville Middle School.  Paige will continue to represent our school at the county competition on February 8th in Addison.  I am sure she will represent us well!!  Congratulations to Paige and Hayden!!  Great job!!

Attention Parents!! This video is a MUST SEE!!
Technology is great!!  With it, however, can come a certain element of danger.  Many of us use our smart phones to take pictures and post them to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.  Users beware!! There are programs available that will gather your personal information and locations of your children.  These programs can be easily disabled by taking a few simple steps.  Please take time to watch the video and become more informed about some of the possible dangers that exist.  If you would like more information about issues such as these, please let us know so we can include information as it is given to us on the school level.  Thanks for being an informed parent!!
Valentine's For Veterans
Haleyville Middle School National Junior Honor Society is working with the Ladies Auxillary to provide a special Valentine's Day message to the 115th stationed overseas.  Each day at break, students have an opportunity to fill out a post card thanking our troops for their service and wishing them well.  Carly Banks, NJHS officer, believes this is something that will make a difference as these young men and women spend time away from home defending our country.  "I'm just glad we are doing it because I know it will be something special.  To receive a note of encouragement from someone you don't even know will make a difference," said Banks.  Haleyville Middle School asks you to continue to pray for our troops and their families.  We are proud to be Americans!
